Here is the first sketch of the electric bike project I am starting. On back burner for a while now, but I need to dig in... Im getting cabin fever and don't have my Bullet back till next week. I hate winter. So starting design study and prototyping now.

Design goals / constraints:

Maintain cruise at 75 for 150 miles

Single Rider

Standard household charging (Edison 110v plug) / High voltage quick charger option

Battery cost under $2000

Maintain feel of a proper petrol motorcycle

The shade is comprised of intersecting cubes of all the same size. This creates different volumetric chambers for the light to diffuse through while creating interesting shading of the multiple cubes geometry. The shade would fit on a standard floor or table lamp.

The canvas is a white melamine countertop. I apply concentrated or gentle heat with a flame torch to achieve the desired amount of "brush" coverage. When you get very close and apply a lot of heat you get these crazy pops as the moisture in the surface vaporizes and needs to release blowing a hole in the countertop and adding a brilliant texture.

I am going to put some videos of the process up soon.

I wanted to keep them clean and not to complex so by first observation they would look easy, but then the physics would screw with you. Here are a few ideas with beginning sketches.

Hesitation = FAIL!!!

Post It ideas

3 Treadmills

Arrows indicate treadmill direction >>>.

Contestant has to jump between platforms, each platform is moving in an opposing direction. Participant will either overshoot the landings or stick the landing and be thrown off balance by change in direction. Landing will be either water, soft foam or sea urchins.

Ski Jumpmill

Arrows indicate treadmill direction >>>.

Contestant has to ride bike/sled down ramp and over perpendicular treadmills. Three opposing treadmills push or pull bike wheels off the edge of the ramp. If they fall off they have to climb back up and do the same thing running. Treadmills before ramp makes the participant travel faster down the ramp, with little control.

Slanted trampoline bounces the participant farther away from the platform because that would be funny.

Roller Death

Contestant has to leap from each roller to the next. Each set of rollers has a hydraulic damper so that it can't spin out of control and give the participant a moment (a sad fleeting moment), but only a moment to decide how to proceed. The roller assembly is on a seesaw mechanism so that if they wait to long or jump wrong the opposing roller will come up and block their leap or pummel them in the face. If they fall they will be cushioned by baby sharks and squid.

Super Roller Death

Contestant has to hold on to a rope that is laced through big bouncy rollers. They have to hold on and make it all the way to the top.

If they let go of the rope they bounce all the way down to the bottom like a giant Plinko game. The rope can be threaded through an infinite amount of ways creating lots of variations of the obstacle.

If they make it they have to fly down a steep slide and hit a trampoline to launch them and try and stick a landing on a platform, if not... well then, the sharks have to eat.
